Specifications

• The existing administrative centre, which was created by the reconstruction of the former military clothing workshops from 1915 by architect Bruno Bauer, consists of a closed volume of buildings on a rectangular plan around a common courtyard.
• The building has four floors above ground and one underground floor, the main entrance faces Chaloupecký Square, the entrance to the courtyard is on the shorter side of Šumavská Street.
• The proposed alterations include several largely separate parts: reorientation of the entrance to Šumavská Street, the addition of three new floors and the insertion of a mezzanine floor in the western part of the basement to serve parking, all while maintaining the form and principle of use of the existing building.

Location

• The site is very accessible by car and public transport.
• There are bus (Botanická Street) and tram (Štefánikova Street) stations in the immediate vicinity.
• Two radial roads connect the area with the centre, i.e. Veveří and Štefánikova streets, between which the complex is situated.
• The nearby city ring road provides quick and easy access to the Brno Exhibition Centre or the D1 motorway, as well as to the northern route towards Svitavy.
