Prague's Hybernská street: Penta Introduces Its Third Project at the Masaryčka Train Station

The original post office building at the corner of Hybernská and Opletalova streets has remained unused for several years. Penta announced an architectural competition for its new design, with seven teams from the Czech Republic and Slovakia participating. The winning proposal, which Penta will prioritize, comes from architect Jakub Klaška, a former member of the Zaha Hadid Architects team who was also involved in the construction of Masaryčka.

Pavel Streblov, Business Director at Penta Real Estate, explains that the selection of Jakub Klaška was recommended by the competition jury. Jakub Klaška, who now works within his own studio, presented a design that sensitively combines historical and new elements in the vicinity of Masaryk Railway Station.

The construction of this new building will be part of the overall development around Masaryk Railway Station. The plans for the conversion include creating new commercial spaces on the ground floor of the building, while the upper floors will house offices and coworking spaces. Additionally, a four-story building will be added on the site of the former post office extension. The project will respect historical architectural features, such as the arched vaults on the ground floor, which will be revealed to the public through a transparent facade.
